Beaches

Find time to relax on Burma’s most spectacular, unspoiled, white sand beaches.

Ngapali Beach

Ngapali Beach’s unspoiled white sand on the Bay of Bengal is the most well-known and most popular beach destination in Burma – it is the prime choice for international travellers, it is accessible and offers a range of accommodation options. Ngapali Beach is just four miles from the airport at Thandwe or a 16 hour long overland drive.

Chaung Tha Beach

You will find Chaung Tha beach 40 km to the west of Pathein (Bassein) in Ayeyarwaddy Division. It is a very convenient five hour drive from Yangon via Pathein. There are bungalow type hotels along the beach with modern facilities.

Ngwe Saung Beach

This unspoilt recently opened beach, 48 km from Pathein, is a 15 km stretch of white sand and aqua-blue sea. It offers newly constructed bungalows with modern facilities that face off the beach and are fringed with palm trees.

Kan Thaya Beach

The 290 km, eight hour drive from Yangon over forested mountain road to KanThaya Beach is well worth the effort. Near Gwa on the Rakhine Coast, KanThaya is one of Burma’s unspoilt beaches with many offshore islands and reefs to explore.
