What You Can Expect
After pickup in an air-conditioned car at your Mexico City hotel, visit the Basilica de Guadalupe, a catholic religious center which was built to replace a Spanish construction of the 17th century. The old church still exists, but every day it sinks further into the swampy ground. The devotion to the “Dark Virgin of Guadalupe”, is so widespread that many Mexicans refer to themselves as “Guadalupanos”. Pilgrims arrive to this important basilica daily, some traveling on their knees in devotion.
After visiting the basilica, continue to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. This ancient Aztec archaeological site was the most populated in the central valley around Mexico City. The Quetzalcoatl Temple, as well as the impressive Pyramids of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, are highlights. At the top of the pyramids enjoy a superb view over then entire central valley.
